Shark finning
There is a big problem at hand and that is shark finning. Shark finning is fishing for sharks but in a very cruel and wasteful way. It's when you catch the sharks, cut off their fins and throw the rest of the shark back in the ocean to drown. 88- 100 million shark die every year due to shark finning, this could soon lead to distinction. The fins of the shark are very expensive and valuable in most parts of Asia. Not for it's taste but mostly for it's tradition.
I chose this article because I once watched a video on it with the chef from Hells Kitchen. He's usually mean but when he saw what was happening to these sharks it really got to him. It was really sad seeing what's happening to these sharks. Even the most vicious creatures don't deserve this.
The next step is for people to stop eating this soup. Creating Laws really is not going to stop this situation. It takes the consumers(which is pretty much us) to stop eating it and even showing interest in shark fins. Once company's see that shark fin isn't selling they will stop buying it. Once they stop buying it fishers will stop fishing for them.
